About Maya:

Maya is a Dutch Shepherd mix who came to us when she was found living in a fenced in property by herself. A kind samaritan managed to secure her and brought her to us! Maya is an incredibly affectionate dog who craves human companionship more than anything else. She does have some anxiety issues that will need to be managed; she is not a fan of being crated and would benefit from having a family that is home most of the time. She loves playing with dogs and does best in small groups and one-on-one play. Maya would prefer going for a long walk or playing a good game of fetch, rather than being left alone in the yard, with her family! Maya is a very active dog who would greatly benefit from an active family who will keep her busy. We also think she may benefit from having another active dog in the home to play with and distract her while her human family is away — this is not a requirement, however. Overall, Maya is an incredibly loyal dog who bonds closely to her humans but needs to gain a little independence. She is highly food motivated and is eager to please. While she does great with other dogs, we don’t know how she would do in a home with cats and believe she would do best in a home with children around 12 years of age or older. Maya is potty trained but does need some basic obedience training. She is incredibly smart with a lot of energy to spare so really needs someone willing to wear her out!
