About Katie:

Katie is a young purebred beagle, likely just under a year old. She came from a situation where she wasn’t purchased from her breeder as a pup and so was going to be euthanized, as she was too old to sell as a puppy any longer. Luckily, a nice lady offered to take her and find her somewhere to go — and that’s where we came in. She lived in a wire crate in a big garage for most of her life. Despite this, Katie is extremely sweet and actively seeks out affection. She seems a little nervous of all the loud noises of the shelter, but is very sweet and comes to the front of her kennel begging for love. She has a bit of a stubby tail which is almost always wagging 100 miles per hour. She likes to give gentle kisses and doesn’t mind being carried. She likes her soft blankets, keeps her kennel clean, and walks well on a leash (except when she has to walk by scary dogs). She may be the cutest beagle we’ve ever seen! She seems ok with other dogs, though she hasn’t actually been introduced yet, and is quiet and relatively low key for such a young dog. We haven’t heard Katie howl or bark once yet. She just stands quietly, wagging her tail, and asking for love.
