About Houdini:

Couch potatoes, here’s your sidekick! Dini, Dino, Deaner, Hoodie—everybody has their own nickname for Houdini. He was found under an abandoned house, then lived in a Southfield shelter for over a year before he came to I Heart Dogs in 2015. He is understandably nervous and shy, but has largely come out of his shell. He is a perfect gentleman with cats, can play and walk with mellow dogs, and has made many human friends. Houdini has playful moments, but he is basically a middle-aged guy with a bum knee. No roughhousing, running, jumping, or long walks, thank you. He likes naps, and sitting next to his human to be petted. A quiet home and a soft bed make him happy. We think Houdini makes being lazy look cute, and we hope you will think so too, because it’s time for him to go home. Despite thriving in a foster home, Houdini is still fearful of strangers. He needs at least three meetings to get to know you. Be prepared to take a long time, starting with just being in the same space or walking with him and another person. Once he gets to know someone, he still needs space and calm, quiet attention—not a lot of petting or hugging. He is only affectionate with those he knows and trusts. Please consider giving Houdini a chance. This is what truly rescuing a dog is all about.

Houdini is currently living in a foster home so introductions need to be scheduled ahead of time.
