About Evie:

All dogs crave love, attention and a house to live in but Evie was denied all these things before she came into rescue.  She came from a rural shelter in Kentucky and her original owner kept her in the yard and only interacted with her enough to toss some food to her.  Having never experienced a normal life, everything was new and frightening to her.  Our staff and volunteers did a wonderful job showing her what love was, helping her to learn what pets were and teaching her to walk on a leash.  She is now in a foster home and has adjusted remarkably well to living in a house.

Evie is crate trained, housebroke as long as you let her out periodically, walks well on a leash and doesn’t hardly bark.  She is in a foster home with dogs and cats and although she seems to enjoy their company, she will lay near them, she doesn’t really interact with them.  She does not come over for pets yet, but with a slow approach does like pets on her head, face and chest. She still scares easily but is getting braver every day.  Evie could be part Bulldog since she has a spinal issue that is common with the breed.  It will not need surgery but she will need to have some daily exercise to keep her limber.  A short stroll or walks around the yard would be all she needs.  She now enjoys the company of people so will follow you room to room and loves a nice comfortable dog bed!

Evie is a very low key, quiet, calm dog that would be most comfortable in a home that is the same.  Evie is ready to find a home that realizes how special this little girl is and would be patient enough to let her blossom at her own pace.  She would be a wonderful companion dog for someone who just enjoys the company of a dog.

Because Evie is living in a foster home, introductions need to be scheduled ahead of time.
