About Duncan:

Duncan is a very special boxer mix with a gentle soul who, through no fault of his own, has spent the majority of his 8 years in a shelter environment. Until he came to I Heart Dogs, he had very little human interaction, which made him unsure of how to meet new people. Since coming to us in November 2015, Duncan has participated in our positive reinforcement training and socialization program with remarkable results! Not only has he learned basic commands like “sit”, “down”, “stay”, and become a star loose leash walker, he has also come to know and befriend many volunteers and is beginning to confidently meet new people on a regular basis. Although he needs a few meetings to warm up, he has come to realize that new people can be awesome friends, and worthy of receiving his famous Duncan kisses and snuggles! Last year, Duncan hit another roadblock and began limping. It was determined that he needed ACL/knee surgery. He was a great patient, and after several months of rehabilitation, he is walking, running, and even swimming! Duncan enjoys car rides, ice cream cones, and all things water related; whether a kiddie pool, creek, or oversized puddle, he will be found lounging with a smile on his face! Duncan loves his “people”, and eagerly greets his friends when they arrive, always ready for an adventure or to just “hang out”. Duncan needs a break. He has been in a shelter environment for too long and deserves to spend his retirement in a home. He will be a loyal companion and will love you with all of his heart!
